Terms of Use

Last updated: 22 October 2026

These terms govern your use of the VetOtter Android app (package com.vetotter.app) and this website. By using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What VetOtter is

VetOtter is a local first pet care companion. It helps you keep pet health records on your device, reminds you about vaccinations and medications, shows a Pet Health Score calculated from your records, provides pet care guides and training programs, includes emergency first aid information, can find nearby veterinary clinics, and offers optional AI assisted information features. The app works without an account and stores your records on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy.

VetOtter is not a veterinarian. The app, including the AI symptom checker, the offline symptom checker, care guides, first aid information and the Health Score, provides general information only. Nothing in the app is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, a prescription, or a substitute for professional veterinary advice.

In an emergency, or whenever you are worried about your pet, contact a licensed veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital immediately. Never delay seeking veterinary care because of something the app said or failed to say.

2. Your data and your responsibility

Your records live on your device. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter (schedules, doses, dates) and for keeping your own backups using the app's export feature. If you delete data or lose your device without a backup, we cannot recover it. We never had a copy.

3. VetOtter Plus subscriptions

Plus is an optional subscription that adds unlimited pet profiles, unlimited AI checks and portraits, PDF health reports, and the full training library. The free tier remains fully usable without it, and your data is never locked behind the paywall.

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play under Google Play's payment terms. Prices are shown live in the app from Google Play, may vary by region and taxes, and may change. The price shown at purchase is the price you pay for that billing period.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. To cancel: open the Google Play Store app, then your profile, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then VetOtter, then Cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals. Plus remains active until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Where a free trial is offered (shown clearly on the paywall before you start it), the trial converts to a paid subscription at the displayed price unless you cancel before the trial ends. Google Play will show the exact trial length and first charge date at confirmation.

Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policies. Restoring a previous purchase is available in the app (Restore Purchases) and through your Google Play account.

4. AI features

AI results are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. They are a starting point for deciding how urgently to see a vet, nothing more. AI features require an internet connection, are subject to fair use limits, and may be unavailable from time to time. Free accounts receive a limited number of lifetime AI checks and portraits, as shown in the app.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: misuse the app or its online services (including attempts to bypass rate limits, quotas or subscription checks); use the app for any unlawful purpose; or misrepresent AI generated output as professional veterinary advice to others. We may limit or discontinue online features (such as the AI proxy) if they are abused.

6. Intellectual property

The app, its design, guides and lesson content are owned by VetOtter and protected by applicable laws. You may use them for your personal, non-commercial pet care. Your pet records and photos remain entirely yours.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep the app reliable, but we provide it “as is” without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose. Offline features depend only on your device. We may update the app and these terms over time. Material changes to these terms will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date, and continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app or subscriptions in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited. You rely on your veterinarian, not on this app, for your pet's diagnosis and treatment.
